A 3 night Cycling BreakAway suggestion travelling in January for under £200pp. Cycling in Mijas includes some of the most popular climbs in the Costa Del Sol and a La Vuelta stage. There are regular flights to Malaga departing many UK airports starting from as little as £28. I've picked up a popular hotel in Benalmadena, very close to our preferred bike shop, the 4* Hotel Ibersol Alay including FREE buffet breakfast, for only £29pppn. The hotel is very close to the airport and the transfers will set you back £20pp. Our preferred bike shop in the area is Fast Monkey, where you can book online a great selection of bikes, with prices starting from €75 for 3 days.
Arrive at Malaga Airport and collect your private transfers to 4* Hotel Ibersol Alay in Benalmadena. Check in and relax for the rest of the day. Make sure you visit Benelmadena's promenade for some sardines and tapas...
After breakfast you can pick up your bike from Fast Monkey's shop, just 8 minute walk from your hotel. Our suggestion for this day is a cycle ride to El Chorro. This is gonna be a long ride, through the Valley of “Guadalhorce” to the “El Chorro” Dam and his “King’s Path”, cycling through Pizarra and Alora. On the way back you can cycle back the same way or extend the ride with a 16 km loop arround the lake and head back through “El Chorro” and back the same way to Benalmadena. Departing from your hotel, ride towards Torremolinos, then head North towards Churriana and Estacion de Cartama. Stay on the A7054 towards Pizarra, then Alora towards El Chorro. After El Chorro and the 'Alto De Guadalhorce' strava segment turn right towards 'Sillon Del Rey'. Get ready for 'Subida Gobantes' strava segment with an average of 5% grade. At the end of the segmnet you can either carry on for a loop around the lake and follow the road towards Ardales. Just before Aldares turn left and follow the road to El Chorro. After 6km turn right and follow the same road back to El Chorro and back to Benalmadena.

After breakfast, depart from your hotel for a loop around the Mijas Mountains. Head towards Torremolinos, same as the day before, and then head North towards Churriana. Go West always along the mountain side towards Alhaurin. Start the first climb of the day: “The Pescadores” Climb, towards Mijas for a small break, before heading straight up to the highest climb of the day: The Antennas Climb, a 5km climb with 10% Avg. grade. Don’t forget your camera for some breathtaken photos from the top of the Mijas Hill. Then get ready for a fast descent back down the hill. Wheee!!! Turn left towards Benalmadena Pueblo and follow road back to the hotel.Distance: 62.34km - Elevation Gain: 1675m Strava Print GPX
After breakfast you can go for a flat and quick ride towards Rincon de la Victoria and Torre del Mar passing Malaga. This is a long flat ride along the coast of Costa Del Sol with a chance to visit the quaint centre of Malaga. After lunch return bike and get ready for your return transfers to airport.Distance: 96.84km - Elevation Gain: 1007m Strava Print GPX
