Puerto de la Cruz to Santa Cruz & Pico del Ingles Ride

This cycle route is one of the most popular cycling routes around the capital. It is a round trip from Puerto de la Cruz with Tenerife's typical ascents and descents. You will be going from a low point up to a high altitude and back down again. With a distance of nearly 115 kms and an elevation gained of 3207 metres it will be a demanding ride. You will be starting from Puerto de la Cruz heading north-west towards Santa Cruz but before you reach Santa Cruz, you will be climbing around Monte de la Esperanza. After this you'll start descending into Santa Cruz. Take the flat dual carriageway towards the fishing village of San Andres. After San Andres you will start climbing again the slopes of Anaga Mountain with some breathtaking views, towards El Bailadero. After the village of Casas de la Cumbre carry on climbing towards Pico del Ingles. There will be some steep sections with gradients of up to 11%. Once you overcome the steep climb, you will reach the Pico del Ingles lookout point at an altitude of 998 metres. From there, you can enjoy some fantastic views of Santa Cruz, Anaga Mountain Range and Mount Teide. This is the second highest point on the route. After this point you will start heading home with a long 15kms descend towards La Laguna and Tejina. After the small village of Tejina take the coastal road back to Santa Ursula and Puerto de la Cruz.
